Armed police raid dwelling on Grand Union Canal
Police have captured one of their most wanted suspects in a local houseboat. Earl White (aka Earl Hall) escaped from police after a shoot-out in Fulham late last year and has been on the run ever since despite a substantial reward being offered. He was wanted in connection with a series of burglary, robbery and aggravated burglary offences committed since August 2005.
Hammersmith and Fulham Crime Operations Group supported by officers from the Met’s Force Firearms Unit and Marine Support Unit carried out the operation on a houseboat in the Grand Union canal this Tuesday (25th April).
White is the brother of Elliot White who was recently convicted of killing financier John Monckton at his Chelsea home. In December of last year Hammersmith police went to arrest Earl White at his Fulham home on a range of charges including aggravated burglaries. White fled by car when police arrived and shots were fired. A the time police believed White may have been injured.
There had been a spate of robberies near the canal in recent months with the perpetrator often threatening victims with a knife. There has been no suggestion from the police that they are linking these crimes with the captured man.
