Too smart for bogus workman on Beech Avenue
An 87 year old woman from Brentford was too smart for a man who attempted to con his way into her home on Beech Avenue.
On Thursday 27th September at around 4pm she answered the door to a white male with a London accent. He stated that he was working next door and that he needed the victim to "turn down the pressure" on her water.
She stated that she knew of no such thing. The male has stood looking at her vacantly for several seconds and then said that he was popping next door to get a spanner and would be back shortly. The lady called her neighbour but the man did not return.
DI Jeff Minns said "The important point here is whilst no access made to the house or any property stolen, this is yet another ruse used to gain entry to unsuspecting, elderly people's homes. Fortunately, on this occasion, the victim was undeterred and challenged the suspect by stating she knew of no such thing."
Witness information will be treated in confidence at Hounslow CID 0208 247 6160/5940 or anonymously on Crime Stoppers 0800 555111.
