A forthcoming Hounslow Council planning meeting is set to consider whether to give final approval to another phase of Ballymore’s Brentford Waterside development.
The so-called ‘Plot H’ on Dock Road already has outline approval as part of the broader masterplan for the scheme which is seeing a large mixed-use redevelopment of the area, including 876 residential units and commercial, leisure, and public realm elements.
The committee is meeting on 12 June to discuss the approval of reserved matters for the 60 flats in an 11 storey building. These comprise and equal mix of 1,2 and 3 bedroom units as well as 86 sqm commercial space which could be used for a café with a terrace and a corner kiosk. The building will be cantilevered over the River Brent in an attempt to reflect the site's industrial heritage.
Under consideration will be the final design proposals and approval is necessary for construction work to begin. The plan follows the established design parameters and layout from the 2015 outline approval and has been recommended for the green light by the borough planning team.
However, the application has been ‘called-in’ for further discussion at the meeting by Cllr Katherine Dunne, who represents Syon and Brentford Lock.
During the recent public consultation 307 residents were notified of the plan and 8 objections were received. Concerns raised included the scheme’s use of gas boilers, the impact on biodiversity from overhang, balcony design and building height and the proximity to working boatyard and potential for future noise complaints.
Brentford Voice opposed the application citing harm to the conservation area, monolithic design, questionable historical references in colour choice, as well as confirming other objections to the overhang effects on biodiversity.
