Local Artist Donates Painting for Auction

At St Vincent's School Fete, June 30

Artist Rachel Tooth, who lives and works in Acton, is donating a dedicated piece of art to her children’s school, St Vincent’s School in Acton. The painting will be auctioned at the school’s summer fete on 30 June with the proceeds going towards books for the new school library.

Rachel says: “I am delighted to be able to give something to the school in this way. I have really thought about what the painting should represent and I do think it is fitting for its purpose, as well as very personal. It would wonderful if someone fell in love with it enough to offer to buy it, remembering that all proceeds from the sale are for the benefit of all the children at St Vincent’s.”

Rachel draws inspiration from the forms and colours of the earth, though anything can inspire, from light on a cooker hob to an orange bedspread. Paint is almost always applied with a palette knife and images can be abstract or figurative.

Rachel has had numerous exhibitions, with her work rapidly growing in popularity. Typically, her pieces sell in the range of £500 - £800 and prices can go far higher for special commissions.

The donated painting is a close up of a flower measuring 60 x 80 complemented by a smaller canvas measuring 30 x 60. The Auction will take place at approximately 3.30pm during the school fete to be held at St Vincent’s School on Saturday 30 June. The school’s new library, which is currently being modified, was paid for by proceeds from school’s summer fete in 2005 and 6, as well as other fund-raising activities organised by The St Vincent’s Parents and Friends Association.
