Win through in the Jack Petchey Schools Team Championships
The winning team from Twyford CofE School
Twyford C of E High School is celebrating after its under 13 girls table tennis team triumphed at the Jack Petchey Schools Team Championships.
Almost 150 players took part in the west London qualifying tournament at Ealing Fields High School, competing in boys’ and girls’ competitions at under-11, under-13, under-16 and under-19 age groups.
The Twyford squad of Eloise Corker Regert, Alice Ganne, Jessica Cranmer and Lauren Green, all aged 12, won the under-13 girls’ category.
Alice said, “As a team, we haven’t actually played before, but hopefully we can play more competitions because it’s a sport where you have fun.
The winners go through to the finals of the Jack Petchey Schools Team Championships on Saturday 8 January, where they will face the teams which qualified from four other London regions and Essex to decide the overall champions.
The Jack Petchey Schools Table Tennis Championships is a partnership between the Jack Petchey Foundation and Table Tennis England to get more young people playing the sport at school for fun and also to compete. It comprises individual and team competitions which are open to boys and girls in full-time education in London and Essex. The partnership also includes the donation of indoor and outdoor table tennis tables to schools and youth clubs in London and Essex.
