A primary school in Acton is to receive a visit from an international athlete as part of a crowdfunding campaign.

Long jumper Ezekiel Ewulo, who represents Nigeria, and has jumped 7.75m will be coming to the school on 13 July in an event organised by Sports For Champions UK (CIC).

A sponsored fitness circuit will be led by Ezekiel, who was a gold medallist in the England Indoor Championships in 2005, with a view to inspiring the as champions of tomorrow and encourage better physical health among the pupils.

During assembly, Ezekiel show the pupils his medals and tell this story to inspire healthier active lifestyles.

Of the donations the school receives through crowdfunder, 40 per cent goes to the CIC to support professional athletes, while 60 per cent goes to the school to buy extra play equipment. Like many schools, Ark Byron’s fundraising efforts have been curtailed during lockdown.

Ark Byron Primary Academy opened in September 2015 and now has six year groups, ranging from Reception to Year 5 and a total of 360 pupils.
