Wimbledon Property Prices - January 2013
High values continues in SW19 into the new year
The recent surge in local property prices appears to have continued into the new year with the average property value in the SW19 post code area during January reaching £736,051. This is the highest monthly average ever recorded.
There were 105 properties reported to the Land Registry as being sold during the month, seventeen of which went for over a million. The most expensive property changing hands was in The Grange and cost its new owners £5,300,000.
According to the Land Registry, London property prices continue to lead the rest of the country rising by 7.1% in January compared with the same month in 2011. The average price of a home in the capital is now £373,207. For England and Wales as a whole over the same period average prices rose by just 1.0% to reach £162,441.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during November 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 1 per cent to 61,091 compared with 60,369 in November 2011. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in November 2012 increased by 19 per cent to 657 from 554 in November 2011.
