Final Chance to Have Your Say on Future of Wormholt Park

How do you want to see £1 million being spent?

This week offers local residents a final chance to take part in  the council's consultation on plans for the future of Wormholt Park.

The council has recently held two consultation events where members of the public have commented on initial proposals for the park in Shepherd's Bush. It has subsequently come back with new plans and is asking local people for their thoughts.

The plans feature improved sport and play facilities, new outdoor gym equipment, new sensory gardens and wildflower areas, a dog free picnic area, a new fenced dog area, market/event space, and improved footpaths at a cost of more than £1million.

Cllr Greg Smith, H&F Council deputy leader said: "Wormholt Park is over 100 years old and these improvements will see it flourish for the next century. It is crucial that local people have their say so we can ensure the park continues to be a place residents can be proud of."

Wormholt Park in the north of Shepherd's Bush was opened in June 1911 by the then Mayor of Hammersmith, Cllr Norman William Shairp, just five days after the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary.

The park now has its own thriving Friends group, who have organised a series of events in the park, ranging from its 100th birthday party to its first Winter Fair in Deccember, which attracted hundreds of local people.

The results of the consultation are expected on January 25.
