Agent expects "great deal of interest from property developers"
Walkabout, one of W12's most popular pubs, is up for sale.
Davis Coffer Lyons, a property agent specialising in the leisure field has been appointed by current owners Intertain to market the 12,700 square foot pub.
Intertain chief executive John Leslie told trade publication Morning Advertiser that he expects to have a range of offers for the 1,250 capacity venue, which is currently home to the very popular Australian themed bar and has a licence till midnight.
This could include redevelopment of the site, on Shepherd's Bush Green close to Westfield Shopping Centre. The brochure for the site says there is a "Significant opportunity to
diversify and/or change the use of the venue."
Intertain, which was recently acquired by Barclays Ventures and a consortium of TPG Opportunities Partners and Goldman Sachs, is currently in the process of refurbishing its 35 outlets. The sale of this property is expected to finance this programme as well as funding new acquisitions.
Paul Tallentyre, Director at DCL says: " This is an excellent property in a fantastic location.
"As well as bar and pub operators we also expect to receive a great deal of interest from property developers who are looking to take advantage of the sites proximity to Westfield London. We hope to be able to announce a buyer later in the year."
