Troubadour White City to Be Closed Down and Dismantled
'Pop-up' theatre to be removed by April and Wood Lane site redeveloped
The Troubadour White City, the 'pop-up' theatre outside White City Place on the corner of Wood Lane and South Africa Road, is to be closed down and dismantled.
The huge 'Meccano-style' venue, which contains two theatres, one seating up to 1,200 people and a second up to 900, will be dismantled and removed by April, less than a year since it was constructed.
The team behind the Troubadour, who also run the King's Cross Theatre and a similar venue in Wembley Park, say that White City Place's owners intend to redevelop the space currently being used by the theatre.
The Troubadour opened on 22 July last year with a stage production of Peter Pan, which was due to run until November. However, it closed after just six weeks early in September, and since then there have been no further theatrical productions.
A statement from Troubadour, which is run by producers
Tristan Baker and Oliver Royds, said the site’s developers had prevented it from staging shows for several months while redevelopment plans were pending.
They said: "Stanhope, the developers of White City Place, notified us in October 2019 that the site which includes Troubadour White City Theatre could potentially be repurposed for development.
" During this time we were unable to programme any further theatre productions in our two theatre spaces and therefore solely focused on hosting a combination of corporate, community and charitable events.
" We have now had confirmation that this development is going ahead and have subsequently begun work of removing the structures in order to vacate the site by April 2020."

The team say that both White City and Wembley Park Theatres are built using a reusable, modular construction method which means they can be taken down and rebuilt in 12 weeks. They added that they are currently searching for a new site for the theatre and will announce further plans soon.
