Find out what diversions will mean for your journey
The gas mains replacement work beginning on Monday January 28 in the Shepherd's Bush Green area is set to affect bus travellers as well as motorists.
Shepherd's Bush Green will be closed westbound between Holland Park Roundabout and Rockley Road for a month. This means some buses will be diverted and some bus stops will be temporarily closed.
Passengers wishing to travel on route 94 towards Acton Green, route 207 towards Hayes, route 237 towards Hounslow Heath, route 260 towards Golders Green, route 295 towards Clapham Junction, route 607 towards Uxbridge and route N207 towards Uxbridge will all use temporary stop T1 located on Shepherd's Bush Green.
Route 148 towards White City will use stop HD located on Holland Park westbound.
Passengers who wish to travel in the opposite direction on these routes will continue to use their normal stop.
Revised stopping arrangements will be clearly displayed on posters at bus stops and on the TfL website.
If you require any further information regarding this situation, contact the 24 hour London Travel Information line on 0843 222 1234 or visit Transport for London.
Local people can also find out more at works and their effect on the area at drop in sessions being held at the Charecroft Estate Community Hall, at the junction of Rockley Road and Shepherd's Bush Green on Tuesday January 22 from 10am to 5pm and Wednesday January 23 from 2pm to 7pm.
The project is being delivered as follows:
Phase 1: Ongoing to Monday January 28
Preparatory work is now being carried out in Shepherd's Bush Green involving a single lane closure coming off Holland Park roundabout.
Phase 2: Monday January 28 to Monday February 25
The westbound carriageway of Shepherd’s Bush Green will be completely closed between Holland Park Roundabout and the W12 Shopping Centre.
Signed diversions will be in place and engineers will work seven days a week and extended hours to complete the job as soon as possible. The bus stops in Shepherd's Bush Green will be temporarily reduced and some local bus services will change for the duration of this phase.
Phase 3: Monday February 25 onwards for approximately eight weeks.
Single lane closures will continue on both Uxbridge Road (opposite Shepherd's Bush station) and Shepherd's Bush Green (outside W12 Shopping centre) as further gas mains replacement work is carried out.
The pedestrian crossing on Shepherd's Bush Green, outside West12 Shopping Centre, will be moved 11 metres away, but will remain fully open with people still able to cross the road easily and safely.
National Grid Construction Operations Engineer Patrick Nathan says: " Our work will help ensure people in Shepherd's Bush Green continue to have reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.
" We’ve sat down with the local authorities and Transport for London to see how we can deliver this work with as little disruption as possible. If anyone has any questions about our project they are welcome to come and see us at the drop in events. Alternatively they can call us on 0800 096 5678."
The project concludes over three years of work by National Grid to revamp local gas mains. It forms part of National Grid’s ongoing gas mains replacement programme which is carried out in agreement with the Health and Safety Executive. Work is being delivered by National Grid in partnership with Skanska.
