Players spread festive cheer among children and staff
Half of Harry Redknapp's squad travelled to the children’s ward at Hillingdon Hospital, whilst the remainder popped into the Jack Tizard School, a school for children with severe learning difficulties (SLD) including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), situated next door to Loftus Road.
The players - Joey Barton, Junior Hoilett, Steven Caulker, Eduardo Vargas, Leroy Fer, Yun Suk-Young, Rio Ferdinand, Jordon Mutch, Adel Taarabt and Niko Kranjcar - handed out presents and joined in some fun and games, posed for photos with the kids and signed numerous autographs.
After the visit, Rio Ferdinand tweeted this picture @rioferdy5 saying:" With The QPR lads visiting the Jack Tizard school for children with disabilities to wish them merry Xmas! "
QPR’s midfielder Niko Kranjcar said: " It’s nice to come out and see the children at this time of year.
"Our appearance will only make a small difference to them, but it’s great to give something back to them. It was lovely to see their smiling faces when we handed out the presents."
Fellow midfield ace, Leroy Fer, added: " Christmas is a lovely time of year and it’s really about the children, but the staff at Jack Tizard are remarkable as well.
" They’re so strong and so dedicated to their jobs, so it’s nice to be able to get to see what they do on a daily basis. They all seemed to get a real buzz from us being there.
"It was a really uplifting afternoon."
