Steamy Weather Challenges Parkrunners |
Charlotte Le Rougetel reports on a humid day on Wormwood Scrubs Parkrun 163 - July 19 My, oh my. Running Wormwood Scrubs parkrun in 80% humidity was certainly a challenge. On my way round, as my pace got slower and slower, I wondered if anyone could possibly have scored a course PB. The answer, a resounding ‘yes’. We actually saw seven PBs this morning. Big well done to everyone. 44 runners joined us, of whom six were first timers, so welcome to them, we hope to see you again. It was also lovely to see Cliff COLLINS, who returned to try and take back the course record in his age bracket (VM75-79). The bad news – he didn’t quite manage it. The good news - hopefully we’ll get to see him again soon for another try. Congratulations to Manuel CORRIENTE who ran his 50th parkrun today. And to Pete J COLLINS who was first over the line in 18:31 and to Rosemary HUNTER, first in the women’s placing with 25:32 – both runners were first timers at Wormwood Scrubs. Current standing in the men's annual points competition: And in the women’s annual points competition: Big thank you to all of our volunteers, of course, Marion BRYDSON, Fraser BRYDSON, James DOE, Robert FERGUSON, Martin GILLIES, Charlotte LE ROUGETEL, Ben LE ROUGETEL and Rizwan RAUF. And a personal thank you from me to Riz for shouting encouragement at me on that last ‘hill’. Enjoy your week! Charlie.
