But shopping centre manager hopes new foodstore will open soon
Morrisons supermarket in the West 12 Shopping Centre has finally closed on Sunday November 27, along with the pharmacy used by many local residents.
The closure has been expected since the chain made an official announcement on September 22, with the loss of 170 jobs and a very busy, much valued Shepherd's Bush amenity.
Pharmacy customers are being advised to register for prescriptions at an alternative store such as the West 12 Centre branch of Boots, or to ask their GP for advice.
In September, a spokeswoman for the store said: "We regret to say that we are proposing to close our store in Shepherd’s Bush.
"We have looked at a whole range of options to make the store viable but none gave us confidence that we could run it successfully. We will now be going through a consultation process with colleagues."
West 12 Centre Manager Stuart Hill said today that Morrisons' lease had come to an end and they decided not to renew it. But he added: " We are now in talks with a number of other retailers and hope to be able to make an announcement soon."
