Underground lake created for nautical adventure with 'cocktail based escapades'
Local landlubbers are invited to leave dry land behind and set sail on a nautical adventure in the Lost Lagoon.
The Lost Lagoon has been created in the basement of the West 12 Shopping Centre by Bompas & Parr, experts in 'multi-sensory experience design' in association with Captain Morgan Rum.
Bompas and Parr, who also created The Four Realms at Christmas at nearby Westfield, say the Lost Lagoon offers the chance to embark on a fantastical subterranean journey inspired by the world's most famous buccaneer, Captain Henry Morgan.
And they say: " Expect exotic locations, creative adventures and cocktail-based escapades as part of an extravagant and immersive theatrical production."
Guests visiting the Lost Lagoon navigate by boat on the world's largest indoor lagoon to a series of islands inspired by the atolls of the south Pacific.
This attraction is strictly for over 18s as along the way, facing creative challenges as part of an immersive theatrical production, they will receive rum-based rations and progressively accumulate the knowledge to make the finest rum punches, reinvigorating a 400 year-old rhyme-based recipe that has stood the test of time to remain the simplest way to make a great-tasting punch – with no obscure ingredients or complex techniques required.
Armed with their final recipe, they will find Captain Morgan's ultimate hidden bounty -– an island party palace set against a radical reimagining of south Pacific island-inspired tiki culture. Amid a party bar of rum-based drinks, features will include a whirlpool cocktail station, beach-inspired food and entertainment.
The Lost Lagoon, which is open till April, is perfect for groups, with a dress code of Neo-Tiki. Tickets, including two drinks, can be booked online at the website.
You can also follow @LostLagoonLondon on Facebook; for Instagram, it's LostLagoonLondon; and on Twitter, it's @LostLagoonLDN. Use #rumquest to connect with other buccaneers.
The Lost Lagoon is one of a number of leisure activities on offer at the West 12 Centre, on the south side of Shepherd's Bush Green. The centre also offers Sherlock: The Game Is Now an immersive escape game with a mystery based on the TV series and a second escape game from Adventox, based on the centre's first floor.
