Dorsett Shepherd's Bush partners "educational entertainment experience"
Shepherd's Bush's newest luxury hotel has teamed up with its newest attraction.
Dorsett Hospitality International, which has just officially opened the Dorsett Shepherd's Bush on Shepherd's Bush Green, has announced that it will be the exclusive hotel partner at KidZania London, opening early in 2015 at Westfield London.
KidZania London is described as "the UK's first educational entertainment experience, offering children the opportunity to learn over 60 unique and exciting professions in a fun and safe environment.
KidZania, which is being created within a two storey extension of Westfield at roof level space, is costing £20 million to build.
It will be a "reality theme park" with its own city centre, including streets and vehicles, where children can take on jobs and earn money in the centre's own currency KidZos.
The town will have its own university and workplaces, all at two thirds size, such as vets' surgeries, cockpits of planes, banks and TV studios, each of which will be sponsored by a well known company.
If they choose to work as the manager or a vital staff member of Kidzania's Dorsett Hotel, children will learn front desk operations and housekeeping skills. On Front of House duty, children will take reservations and welcome guests arriving at the hotel, whilst housekeeping members of staff carry out a Turn Down service.
"Dorsett Shepherds Bush is proud to partner with KidZania as the hotel to introduce the exciting hospitality profession to children, through interactive and fun role play," says Hilary Cross, General Manager at Dorsett Shepherds Bush.
KidZania London Chairman Joel Cadbury has also announced that the other five industry partners so far confirmed are Renault, British Airways, innocent, Global Radio, and Golden Tours, with more to come before the launch.
KidZania will operated by a leisure company called Longshot, founded by Joel Cadbury and Ollie Vigors, which has previously run Soho members’ club the Groucho, the Soho health club, gym Third Space and pubs including the Admiral Codrington in Chelsea.
KidZania could also provide a further boost to our local economy, with the operator hoping it will attract up to one million young visitorsand their families every year.
