Imperial College Updates Plans for Next Phase of White City Campus

New proposals for former Unigate Dairy site go on show to public this week

Local residents are being invited to a range of local venues see how Imperial's proposals for the part of the campus south of the Westway, formerly the Unigate Dairy, have developed since a first round of public consultation in May.

The project team will be on hand to answer questions and Imperial is requesting feedback before an outline planning application is submitted to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham later this year.

The exhibitions will also show updated plans for the two plots on the northern part of the campus, which are not yet under construction.

Imperial says the proposals are the next step for its new White City campus, where academic researchers will work alongside innovative businesses and the community to solve global challenges.

Future research at the campus could include finding new ways to prevent dementia, creating new solar power technologies, or helping the body to repair itself after surgery or injury by growing new bone or cartilage.

The public consultation events will take place on:

• Friday 6 October (3pm – 8pm) White City Community Centre, India Way, London W12 7QT
• Saturday 7 October (10am – 3pm) St Helen’s Church, St Helen’s Gardens, London W12 7DZ
• Tuesday 10 October (2pm – 7pm) The Invention Rooms, 68 Wood Lane, London W12 7TA
• Thursday 12 October (3pm – 8pm) Brickfields Hall, Wood ane Studios, Shinfield Street, London W12 0HN

Professor Neil Alford, Associate Provost (Academic Planning) at Imperial College London, said:"We have listened to the feedback that we received at our consultation earlier in the year and we are keen to hear what our neighbours in the area have to say about how the plans have developed.

"We’re making a long-term commitment to the community at our White City Campus and we hope that everyone will take the opportunity to get involved."

Imperial already has a significant presence in White City, with several buildings either open or under construction north of the Westway.

These include the Molecular Sciences Research Hub, the new home for Imperial’s world-leading Department of Chemistry, and the Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub, which will house life-changing research into new and affordable medical technology.

Further south on Wood Lane, The Invention Rooms is a pioneering community innovation space where local residents, students, staff and partners can come together to innovate and convert ideas into reality, working with the latest science and technology.

The plans will also be available to view online from 6 October at the White City Planning website. You can also get in touch by calling 020 7323 3544, emailing whitecityplanning@imperial.ac.uk or writing to: FREEPOST White City Campus planning.
