Celebrate summer and raise funds to help local families
Shepherd's Bush's West 12 shopping centre is hosting two Family Fun Days on Thursday and Friday packed with free activities designed to entertain families and gets kids active.
The activities place on Thursday July 26 from 2pm till 5pm and Friday July 27 from 12noon till 4pm on both the ground and upper levels of West 12.
Outside the centre on Thursday, two ‘Cake Lady’ stilt walkers will be giving out tasty treats for lucky passersby.
Inside, Sumo wrestling challenges will give opponents the chance to get in the ring and battle it out in front of visitors.
Sporty shoppers wishing to recreate the England football team’s penalty shoot-out against Italy can try and beat the goalie in return for prizes.
The skittle alley will offer visitors the chance to fine tune their bowling skills whilst knocking down the nine precariously balanced skittles.
For those who prefer to celebrate mode sedately, there will be face painting in union jack, crown and football designs in return for a £1 donation to Shepherds Bush Families Project & Children Centre, Henna hand painting and make-your-own foam sports medals workshops. For younger visitors there will be sand pits filled with children’s toys.
Gavin Waller, Centre Manager says: " We’re lucky enough to have a summer packed with Great British occasions including the London 2012 games, and our Family Fun Days are designed to celebrate these. With a mixture of sporting activities, face painting and stilt walkers we’re providing something for everyone."
West 12 recently announced that Shepherds Bush Families Project & Children’s Centre will be its chosen charity partner for 2012. As well as these fun days, the shopping centre aims to help raise vital funds for the charity through a variety of initiatives throughout the year.
Shepherds Bush Families Project & Children’s Centre, which relies on grants from foundations and trust and donations from the general public, provides an essential service to the local community, working with families who have varying degrees of housing needs including those that are homeless, living in bed and breakfast hotels, hostels, refuges and occupying unsuitable housing.
