October's book readings

Local author Amanda Lees reads from her popular Kumari series and gives some
exclusive writing tips. Kumari is a goddess-in-training who lives in a secret
valley kingdom. She longs to break free from life in the palace where her only
real friend is her pet vulture, Badmash.
When her mother is mysteriously murdered she steals away to the Holy Mountain to
summon her back from the dead and find out the truth. But the next thing she knows
she is in New York, surrounded by strange buildings and even stranger people and
running for her life.
Follow our heroine's explorations in the outside world as she battles on behalf of
good over evil.

Bob Marley: The Untold Story

Strummer, interviewed Bob Marley in 1979. Marley died tragically young at the age of
36 in 1981. Drawing on interviews never released before, Chris Salewicz explains how
Bob Marley has become such an enigmatic and enduring figure.

describes what poetry means to her with examples from her own work and from well
known poets. There will be an opportunity to write, as well as hear poetry
