The first ever Phoenix High School Summer Fayre takes place on Saturday 4 July from 12pm - 5pm.
The event will be a fun day for the entire family and there will be opportunities for visitors to improve their dance, cooking, self-defence and healthy living skills. Free refreshments will also be available and all proceeds from the day will be donated to Save the Children fund. The fayre is taking place at the school which is in The Curve in Shepherds Bush, W12 0RQ.
Summer fayre attractions include: a main stage with talent show and bands, fairground rides, dance workshops, police “pat and chat” with their dogs and horses, arts and crafts workshops, cooking demonstrations, prize draw raffle (prizes donated by local organisations), circus skills, free BBQ, golf coaching, stalls and bouncy castle.
From being named one of the worst schools in the country a few years ago, Phoenix High School was recently judged as “outstanding” by OFSTED inspectors. Headteacher Sir William Atkinson, who was knighted in recognition of his services to education in November 2008 said: “Phoenix High School has a very strong family learning and community outreach focus.
“We see the day as a way to celebrate all that is positive about White City, with local people of all ages being involved in all aspects of the day, as performers, audience members and even operating stalls, through a school business enterprise initiative.”
