Sold by DJ Jon Carter to Young's as part of ten million pound package
Popular Shepherd's Bush pub The Defector's Weld has changed hands.
It is among four pubs across London which have been sold to Young's and Co by 580, the group run by superstar DJ Jon Carter.
Carter, who was once married to BBC Radio’s Sara Cox and was a top big beat electronica DJ in the 1990s, co-founded 580 Limited in 2004, having previously co-owned The Lock Tavern in Camden.
Now 580 has sold The Defector’s Weld in Uxbridge Road along with The John Salt in Islington, The Fellow, King’s Cross and The Owl & Pussycat in Shoreditch for £10.4 million cash.
The Defector's Weld will now be brought under the Young’s pub banner. Stephen Goodyear, chief executive of Young’s, says: "We are delighted to be adding these excellent pubs to our managed house estate.
" All four are in vibrant locations where our premium proposition of craft beers, high-quality wines and cocktails, restaurant-quality fresh and innovative food, and above all a warm welcome in well-presented surroundings, will work extremely well."
He also promised that Young’s would "retain an element of the live music" at the pubs, including The Defector's Weld.
