The Hammersmith & Fulham planning committee have given consent for a massive property development in White City to proceed.

The scheme at Centre House on Wood Lane will require the demolition of the existing buildings and the construction of two new tower one reaching 32 storeys high and the other 22 storeys.

They will contain 527 new flats and there will also be commercial, community and leisure facilities provided at the site. A third of the homes will be affordable and allocated to staff at Imperial College London and other key workers.

The developer is St. James which is part of the Berkeley Group. They have worked in partnership with the college on the scheme.

The project will be linked to the wider White City Living development which covers 10 acres in the area and will see 2,300 new flats being built if completed.

Work on clearing the site is expected to start later this year with construction planned to begin in 2021 and completion of the first phase scheduled for 2024.

Sean Ellis, Chairman of St James Group, said: “Centre House is the final piece of the jigsaw in the White City masterplan and is pivotal in connecting the major regeneration projects that surround it.

“We have worked closely with Imperial College London and Hammersmith & Fulham Council to create a high-quality new vision for the site, providing a significant number of key worker and private sale homes.”
