Working 'extremely quickly' to tackle burning moped and petrol pump

London Fire Brigade says crews " worked extremely quickly" to avert a major blaze after a burning moped set fire to a pump in the BP Connect Petrol Station on Shepherd's Bush Green.

The brigade says that four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called at 7.55pm on July 8 to put out the fire in the busy station.

As you can see from the picture above, the moped was completely damaged by the fire and half of the adjacent petrol pump and a small part of the petrol station roof were also damaged.

Five people left the petrol station before the arrival of the Brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.

Station manager Charles Hanks, who was at the scene, said:
" Crews worked extremely quickly to extinguish the fire and stop it spreading to the rest of the station and nearby cars."

The Brigade says after tackling the fire for around 40 minutes, it was under control by 8.36pm. Crews from Hammersmith and North Kensington fire stations attended the scene.
