Goldhawk Road Shop Owner Injured by Teenage Robber

After he and accomplice stole just £10 from patisserie's till

The owner of a well known patisserie in Goldhawk Road required hospital treatment after challenging two teenagers who stole money from his till.

Volta Van, who has run Vivian Patisserie for 26 years, says the robbers came into the shop around 9pm on May 21 and forced their way over the counter to open and empty the till of the paper money.

Howver, the till contained only £10 as Mr Van says he empties it regularly.

He followed the robbers out into Goldhawk Road and saw one of them standing by himself.

He told the Hammersmith Gazette: " I thought I could hold him until the police came but it was a stupid thing to do. I’m a shopkeeper - I don’t know how to fight.

" He punched me three times on the nose. I couldn’t hold him, I went back inside and locked the door until the police came."

Mr Van was taken to Charing Cross Hospital by ambulance to have his bleeding nose treated. He now wants to warn others about the robbers and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward to the police.

He said: " We’ve got to stop these guys from terrorising other shopkeepers in the borough."

The robbers were both black, male and in their late teens. The attacker was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore glasses, while the other was about 5 feet 11 inches.
