Nine Arrests Made in Operation Cubo
Aiming to catch criminals and cut down fly-tipping on Scrubs Lane
Nine people were arrested on Wednesday June 5 following a joint police and council operation targeting uninsured drivers and criminal use of the roads.
Officers from the local H&F Metropolitan Police and the council’s street scene enforcement team took part in Operation Cubo, stopping vehicles on Scrubs Lane in Shepherds Bush.
Forty vehicles were stopped and six were seized when their drivers were found to be driving with no insurance while there were nine arrests for money laundering, theft, possession of a blade, drugs possession and breaching bail conditions.
The council issued 18 notices for not transporting waste legally, one notice for not proving a duty of care in disposing controlled waste that was being transported and one fixed penalty notice of £300 for transporting waste without authority.
As well as catching criminals, the operation aims to help cut down on the illegal dumping of rubbish and reduce fly-tipping in the borough.
Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for residents’ services, says: "Operation Cubo was a great success and has once more proved how important these types of on-the-spot operations are in keeping our streets and borough safe.
"We will continue to do everything we can to help the police and to keep cracking down on crime in H&F."
