Drink fuelled fight at local garage led to man's death

A man has been jailed for killing a work colleague at a garage forecourt in last year.

Pavel Dunanov, 31, of Spur Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, was found guilty at the Old Bailey today (9th July) of the manslaughter of 29-year-old Piotr Maculewicz. He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

During a two week trial, the court heard that police found Polish born Mr. Maculewicz unconscious when they arrived at the scene in the evening on 11 March 2011 in the forecourt area of a garage on Sulgrave Gardens, Sulgrave Road, which is between Goldhawk Road and Shepherd's Bush Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. A post-mortem showed thatMr Maculewicz had suffered a number of blunt force trauma injuries to the head.

Ukrainian born Dunanov was arrested on 11 March 2011 on suspicion of murder, and then charged on 16 January 2012 and remanded into custody.

Another man arrested in connection with the investigation was subsequently released with no further action taken.

Detective Inspector John Smith, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said, "Mr Maculewicz was killed by a work colleague at the construction garage they worked at, following a violent alcohol fuelled argument. The evidence which was bought before the court against Dunanov was overwhelming, and I am pleased that he has been held to account for his terrible actions."
