Violent thug Fredericks "a clear danger to the public"

Kyle Fredericks, 23 admitted the crime, but tried to claim the violence was committed in self-defence.

However, the jury at Isleworth Crown Court dismissed his claims, and Fredericks will be sentenced next month.

Afterwards DI Glyn Jones, in charge of the borough's domestic crime unit, said Fredericks presented a clear danger to the public. He has previous convictions for robbing elderly people.

He said: "He has a history of violence and we were concerned while he was at large.

"This was one of the most extreme cases of domestic violence I have even been involved with and Fredericks is even more despicable in that he forced his victim to go through court because of his cowardly self-defence claim.

"I'm pleased to see the jury has seen through him and hope a period in jail will allow him to reflect on his actions. Nothing, though, can prevent his victim from living with the scars of his horrendous attack for years to come.

"Fredericks' conviction is a clear demonstration of our determination to track down people who commit domestic crimes. We have a dedicated team of officers who can help and support victims of domestic violence, no matter how small the offence."

Police had launched a £5,000 reward to track down Fredericks, who has previous convictions for robbing elderly people, after he fled the scene of the attack, which happened on October 13. He was eventually tracked down to a property in Acton.
