Cyclist Sought After Death of Elderly Man in Shepherd's Bush

Pedestrian dies weeks after being hit on Frithville Gardens

An appeal is being made to find a cyclist who was involved in a collision which resulted in the death of an elderly pedestrian in Shepherd’s Bush.

The incident occurred in Frithville Gardens at approximately 11am on 30 December 2016. Frithville Gardens is the road near Shepherd’s Bush Market tube station which runs from the Uxbridge Road to Hammersmith Park.

The pedestrian, a 72-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries but he died on 15 January 2017. His next of kin have been informed. The police learnt of the death on 27 January 2017 and the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation.

Detectives are appealing to trace the cyclist, who is described as a black man. He stopped at the scene of the collision, but as police were never called to the incident they have no record was taken of his identity. Investigating officers say that at this stage all they wish to do is speak to the man to establish the circumstances that led to the collision and that it is of paramount importance that the cyclist comes forward and assists with the investigation.

Given the time of day there would have been a number of people in the vicinity and detectives are also appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
