Sixty-Six Books celebrates 400th anniversary of King James Bible
The Bush Theatre has opened the doors of its new home in Shepherd's Bush Old Library on Uxbridge Road.
Its first presentation in the new venue is Sixty-Six Books, an epic performance cycle featuring 66 writers and 130 actors celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
From all faiths and none, from over a dozen countries and across five continents, sixty-six remarkable playwrights, poets, songwriters and novelists speak to each book of the King James Bible, filling the new theatre with contemporary responses to some of the greatest stories ever told.
Sixty-Six Books opened this weekend with an extrordinary 24 hour event running from Friday into Saturday featuring all the sixty-six responses and offering members of the audience the chance to explore the new theatre from the attic to the cellar.
Sixty-Six Books will now continue through over the next ten days, with opportunities on week nights to visit the new Bush and see a selection of responses. Tickets are still available for performances on October 19, 20, 22, 26 and 27.
On October 21, Sixty-Six Books will travel to Westminster Abbey for a special, 12 hour overnight vigil, featuring a special selection of works from Sixty-Six Books. You can buy tickets for the entire night, or a three hour ticket for the first part of the performance.
