Australian banker caught looking at porn on work computer

A financial markets website, based in Shepherd's Bush, has launched a campaign to save the job of an Australian banker who was caught on live TV looking at pornographic images on his computer at work.

During a live broadcast from his office for Australia's Channel 7 evening news, banker David Kiely could be seen in the background looking at topless pictures of Australian model Miranda Kerr.

While his colleague was being interviewed for the news programme, Kiely was seen to turn around, notice the cameras, and then turn back to his work, quickly clicking away from the semi-nude images.

Now, the website Here Is The City, based in Ormiston Grove W12, is calling on its readers to email Kiely's employer, Macquarie Group, at their headquarters in Sydney with the words "Don't fire David Kiely" in the subject title.

“Kiely is said to have been marched off the trading floor after the incident hit the headlines, and remains at home. He is expected to be interviewed in the next day or so, and his future will be decided in the next few days,” Here Is The City say on their website.

Giving their reasons why they believe Kiely should not be fired, Here Is The City write: “He seems like a nice bloke”, “The pics weren't hardcore”, “He has suffered enough”, and “There's just too much political correctness in this world anyway”.

More than a dozen Facebook groups have also been set up in support of Kiely amid rumours that he was set up.

Immediately after the broadcast, Australia's biggest investment bank, Macquarie Group Ltd. said in a statement: "Macquarie has strict policies in place surrounding the use of technology, and the issue arising from today's live cross on 7 News is being dealt with internally."
