Hounslow Council Lift Some Parking Charges Over Christmas

Small festive boost aimed at encouraging local shopping

Residents and shoppers have been given a small festive boost as Hounslow Council will once again suspend car parking charges in some areas of the borough between Christmas and the New Year.

Parking will be free in council controlled paid-for parking spaces on-street and in car parks on Saturday 22 December.

As residents hit the shops to purchase those last-minute gifts, there is a chance to shop local and support the borough’s small businesses and town centres.

On Tuesday 25 December (Christmas Day), Wednesday 26 December [Boxing Day] and Tuesday 1 January [New Year’s Day], Bank Holiday restrictions will apply in council controlled car parks and on-street parking.

Normal charges will apply on Thursday 27 December, Friday 28 December, Saturday 29 December, Sunday 30 December and Monday December 31.

Councillor Amrit Mann, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “We like to make this small gesture to help residents and shoppers get those last minute presents.

“We hope that lifting normal restrictions during this time will make things a little easier for everyone trying to get around the borough and give a boost to our local businesses.”
Motorists should note that other parking restrictions such as double yellow lines will still be in place and will be enforced during this time.
