Launch Of 'The B Dream' Anthology Of Poetry And Prose

A collection of the writings of young local women

The launch of a poetry and writing anthology written by young women from across the borough, was held recently at the Apple Store in Regent Street.

The B Dream was born out of Agents for Change — a year-long mentoring project with writing workshops designed to help participants find their creative voice. It includes selected stories on the theme of the environment, dreams and aspirations.

The contributors to 'The B Dream' are young women
aged 13 to 18 from the Borough of Hounslow, all
of whom participated in a creative writing project from
February 2019 to January 2020 run by Hounslow Action
for Youth, a charity founded to support vulnerable
young people in Hounslow.

This book is the result of the writing these young women produced during the workshops.

The project was created by the charity in partnership with Jacqueline Crooks. Jacqueline has many years’ experience of working with vulnerable communities, and is a published author, and she brought both elements of her considerable experience to this project.

The book was designed from cover to cover by these young women. They were involved in every creative aspect of the publishing process, even visiting the printers where the book was made.

One reviewer described the writing as ;"Deeply felt poems, tender and multi-voiced – these
women have created poems that ‘flow out of fire’ and travel to the ‘black blades of the grass’ of language."
