Local woman takes part in cancer charity event
Thousands of women will be taking part in a series of Race for Life events this summer to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
The women will be walking, jogging and running in a bid to raise £62.5 million to help continue funding the work of over 4500 doctors, nurses and scientists dedicated to finding new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer.
Donna Harris, who was born in Shepherd's Bush, is taking part in a 10k event on Sunday 28 June 2009 and is hoping to raise £250.
"Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you can help more people survive cancer," she said.
Last year, Race for Life raised £44 million for Cancer Research UK, which is the leading independent funder of cancer research in Europe.
