Demand for help is growing every year says Ruth Cadbury
Ruth Cadbury MP has visited Hounslow Community Foodbox to distribute Christmas hampers.
Foodbox received food donations to the value of £3000 in December and over 300 people have received Christmas hampers that have been put together by volunteers from GSK and Pernod Ricard.
Ruth commented: ‘The Hounslow Community Foodbox is an invaluable service for so many families this year.
"It is a sad but inevitable fact that the numbers of people needing foodbanks is growing year on year and more needs to be done to support low income households. Nobody deserves to be hungry and no parent should have to sacrifice their dinner so that their children can eat
"The kindness displayed by the community through donations has been heart-warming and the donated gifts will put smiles on the faces of so many children who would have gone without this Christmas."
The number of requests average around 50 people per day and the demand shows no sign of reducing. If you know of families who are struggling this Christmas, please contact info@hounslowfoodbox.org.uk to get them the support they need.
Foodbox has received a tremendous amount of support from individuals and local businesses including Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda, GSK, Pernod Ricard, Sega, Thames Valley Housing, Hounslow Housing repairs team, Hilton Hotel Heathrow, Rotary Isleworth and Heston and local churches.
