Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Conquer RideLondon

Local MP also took part in the cycle

Fundraisers representing Brentford FC Community Sports Trust completed the RideLondon challenge on Sunday, with 26 riders successfully tackling the course.

Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford and Isleworth, who completed the final 25 miles of the course as part of a peloton team said “RideLondon was a great day, and with the training rides we really felt part of a team.  It is a fantastic event and I am looking forward to taking part again next year!”

Starting at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and finishing on The Mall. This year a team of 27 riders were part of the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Team taking part in the 100 mile, new 46 mile or Peloton relay, consisting of three teams of four.

There was team training prior and all the riders were welcomed at the finish line with a team-celebration ‘Picnic in the Park’, where a well-deserved drink – supplied by local brewery Fullers – was waiting for them.

Lee Doyle, CEO at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust said ‘It is great to be part of a Bees team, we have riders from the Trust, Club, Business Partners and our local Community all wearing the special edition Bees cycling shirt. Fundraising is a major source of income for the Trust, and creates the opportunity to not only deliver our existing projects, but also to continue to grow. I would like to thank all of the riders and sponsors who made the event the success it was – we are aiming to raise over £15,000.

Tomas Abreu, Business Support Officer said “I was employed as a direct result of the money raised at Ride London last year, so I felt that it was a good opportunity to give something back.  The crowds on the day were amazing throughout the course.  It has given me the bug for cycling and I am now looking at other events to take part in.”

Nick Kilby at teapigs, the local tea company described it as “an excellent day all round, great team effort and one of the best things was hearing people cheering Brentford on the route. Our shirts were a hit!”
