Missing People Need Your Help

Join Virgin London Marathon and raise money for a worthy cause

Have you ever wanted to test yourself and run a marathon, or do you know someone who does?

The date for the 2013 Virgin London Marathon has now been announced and will take place on Sunday the 21st April! This is an incredibly prestigious event, with places increasingly difficult to get hold of. The enthusiasm of our marathon runners is paramount; as the money raised helps us provide a lifeline for the estimated 250,000 people who go missing every year, of whom approximately 140,000 are children and young people.

Matt Craigie"I ran the London Marathon in 2011 for Missing People because I realised that if I was going to put myself through such a one-off and life-changing experience, I had to do it for a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of real people everyday. There aren't many more worthy causes than helping the families and friends of missing people to find or contact loved ones - and that fact helped me raise well over £3,000.” Matt Craigie, 2011 runner.

There are 9 places left for people to sign up and run to raise money for Missing People.

If you are a keen, driven runner, or even if you aspire to be please do get in touch with Beth Knebel beth.knebel@missingpeople.org.uk or complete the application form as soon as possible. Please also visit  2013 London Marathon for Missing People for further info.

Training will be very important to enable you to complete the course, so you will be teamed up with Karen Weir, a very experienced running coach, to provide you with training plans and running advice.  For most people the prospects of running a marathon can be daunting so Missing People wishes to make sure people are fully supported.

Beth Knebel, of Missing People, commented "Each runner will be asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £2000, a high but totally achievable target, which we are hoping all our runners will embrace. We have loads of suggestions and advice of how to do this, and we will support you every step of the way".
