Olympic Community Champions Honoured

Mary Macleod nominates them for BA award

Two local people have been chosen amongst the 38 British Airways Community Champions for their outstanding contribution to local community life.

Nominated by local MP Mary Macleod, Andree Lee from Chiswick, and Lee Doyle from Brentford were among the winners who were each awarded a pair of tickets to the London 2012 Olympic Games by British Airways chief executive Keith Williams and Olympic Gold medallist Denise Lewis. The awards were presented at a special event at the Houses of Parliament.

Andrée Lee was nominated for her work as founder and Project Coordinator of the Shelter Project that brought together 30 churches last winter to provide hot food and overnight accommodation for homeless men in the local area.

Lee Doyle is Chief Executive of the Brentford Community Sports Trust and has worked for twenty five years to build up a programme of activities for more than 27,000 young people ranging from sports participation, health, education and social inclusion.
