Hounslow Council Complete Move To New Headquarters

Vacated civic centre to be redeveloped into housing

From Monday Hounslow Council will no longer be housed at the Civic Centre on Lampton Road.

From April 15 the remaining staff will have completed the move to the new Hounslow House at the western end of the High Street, which will now serve as the official council offices.

The move sees the council leave a premises it has occupied since the late 1970s.

The council says the old premises was too big for the number of staff, and would likely require costly repairs over the next few years

There is no date set yet for the demolition of the Civic Centre, but ownership of the site will be handed to developers in May or June.

When it is knocked down it will be replaced with 940 housing units – 50 per cent of which will be affordable.

Council leader Steve Curran said: “There will be a mix of studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments across 10 buildings varying between three and nine storeys.”
