New group welcomes women with Jewish connections

Next meeting - Food for thought

Jo Coburn, the Political Correspondent for the BBC and a member of Ealing Liberal Synagogue shared her Westminster experiences and answered questions at the launch of Ealing's first group for Women with a Jewish Connection' living in West London.

Kesher' which means connections - welcomes women from all Jewish communities in West London and the first meeting included members of Grange Road 's Orthodox synagogue and non Jewish partners of the Ealing Liberal community's members - and much further afield.

On Wednesday 7 June 2006 at ELS the first meeting attracted over 30 women to hear the talk and there was also time to make new acquaintances of all ages from all over West London .

The next meeting - Food for Thought' - will discuss why food is such an important part of Jewish life and tradition and women are being encouraged to bring along their favourite dishes and a story relating to it.   By selling copies of the recipes, funds will also be raised for Jewish women's charities.  The meeting will take place at Ealing Liberal Synagogue, on Monday 18th September at 8pm.

Future plans include more high profile speakers with Jewish connections as well as making time to share thoughts on female Jewish writers and explore the varied cultural backgrounds of Jewish women.  Interest was also shown in an Israeli dance class, which will start shortly.
