James Cracknell Supports Ealing Eagles 10k Race

And he is encouraging local runners to enter

James Cracknell OBE is supporting the Ealing Eagles 10K race and is encouraging local runners to register, it was announced today (March 20 ).

Chiswick-based Cracknell is one of Britain’s most successful athletes of all time with two Olympic Gold Medals and six World Championship titles. Since retiring from his 13-year international career, James has distinguished himself as a very special and inspiring sportsman, athlete and adventurer who is well-known as a keen runner.

In 2010 he finished a phenomenal 12th in the Marathon de Sables (making him the highest placed Briton in the event’s 25-year history). He has also competed in numerous running races including the London Marathon and the Great North Run.

As Senior Research Fellow for Obesity and Physical Activity, he is committed to encouraging people to get fit and supporting such running events is something he feels strongly about.

James said: “I'm delighted to be supporting the Ealing Eagles 10K. The Ealing Eagles is an inspirational running club and I hear how great they are all the time.

"I love running myself and I would urge local people to get their trainers on and get involved. Whether you are a beginner, or perhaps a parkrun enthusiast looking for that next challenge or a seasoned runner, the Ealing Eagles 10K on May 10th should be a date for your diary. I hope you can join us!"

The race will be held at Gunnersbury Park on May 10th, and is a mixture of grass, trails and concrete footpaths
