Apply Online for School Places

Meetings to offer advice to parents

The application process for primary and secondary school admissions is moving completely online this year.

From this week, parents are able to apply for a 2016 school place using e-admissions, the pan-London website for school admissions.

Applying online is designed to make the process quicker and easier. The system is simple to use and will prompt you to fill in all the necessary information, and you can review and make changes right up until the closing date deadline.

Other benefits of applying online include:

  • You can upload and attach supporting documents for your application
  • You receive text reminders about key dates
  • Information is stored securely and confidentially
  • You can accept your child’s place online
  • The application cannot get lost in the post

Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, said:

“Like other local authorities, we’ve taken the decision to move our application process completely online in order to make the process easier and quicker. It’s part of the council’s work to increase the number of services we provide digitally, now that more residents than ever have access to the internet.

“Moving away from paper applications has major benefits, as not only is it better for the environment but is also reduces administration costs.

“We’re committed to supporting children to get the best education possible, while also embracing working in new ways to make services for better for residents.”

The council will be holding an advice meeting for parents of year six children, who are transferring to secondary school, at the Civic Centre on Wednesday 9 September from 7pm. For parents of children entering reception there will be an advice meeting on Wednesday 25 November from 10.30am to 4pm.

There will also be drop-in sessions every Wednesday from October to January at the Civic Centre, where staff will be on hand from 12pm to 4pm to assist parents with the online application process.

The closing date for secondary school applications is Saturday 31 October 2015 and for primary school applications is Friday 15 January 2016.
