Mayor raises thousands for local charities


Hounslow Community Foodbox and London Wildlife Trust

More than £6,500 was raised for two charities at a civic dinner held on Saturday (19 July) hosted by the Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Corinna Smart.

Hounslow Community FoodBox and the London Wildlife Trust were the beneficiaries of the £6622.90 raised through donations from the 350 guests who attended the function held at Hounslow Civic Centre. They included the borough deputy lieutenant Maria Pedro, the mayors of neighbouring boroughs, Hounslow councillors, local community leaders, Brentford Football Club, Brentford Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

The guests of honour were four Chelsea Pensioners Patrick Cody, John Denton, Harry Puttick BEM and Marjorie Cole.

Cllr Smart said:

“It was a wonderful evening for everyone who attended, and also for the charities I am supporting. The money raised will go  towards helping these important causes, and I’m immensely grateful to everyone for their generosity.”
