Be inspired to take on the Workplace Challenge

Log your walking or cycling to gain prizes

People who have been inspired to get more active by the Olympics can take part in a challenge to encourage more people to walk or cycle to work.

The Workplace Walk and Cycle Challenge is open to anyone who works in the borough, and sees firms large and small competing to be the most active in the borough.

Cllr Colin Ellar, cabinet member for environment at the council, said:

“The Olympics have helped inspire people from all walks of life to try to get more active.

“This friendly competition can help encourage people to make simple changes to their commute, and see the benefits of walking or cycling so they remain more active for years to come.”

Participants simply register at www.hounslowtravelactive.org and click ‘join workplace challenge’ under their organisation’s name. If an employer is not listed in the dropdown menu, contact travelactive@hounslow.gov.uk to be added to the list.

People then need to log their walking or cycling for work until 16 September to be in with a chance of winning a range of active prizes.

A bike will be awarded to the person who logs the most miles on the winning team and additional vouchers awarded to outstanding individuals in different teams.
