Aim is that panel makeup will reflect the diversity of the borough
April 23, 2025
Hounslow Council is seeking to persuade 2,000 borough residents to sign up for a new Residents Panel.
It says that this body will help shape council decisions in the future.
The aim is to recruit residents from all ages, backgrounds, and experiences to reflect the diversity of the borough. Members can choose to take part in surveys, focus groups, and discussions about Council policies and services, local issues, and future plans.
Current ways people can get involved include participating in a consultation on the new Housing Strategy for Hounslow and taking part in a survey on the Planning Enforcement Plan.
The panel is run by independent research company SMSR Research Ltd on behalf of Hounslow Council. The council says it handles all personal data securely and only use it for research and engagement purposes.
Residents can register their interest by emailing Lee from SMSR at latkinson@smsr.co.uk and a representative from SMSR will get back to you in due course.
The recruitment for the panel will close on Monday 2 June.
Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, said, “Our Radical Overhaul of Consultation and Engagement Programme (ROCE) set out our commitment to being a ‘listening council’ – making sure all our residents have a real say in how local services are shaped and delivered. As part of this new approach, we are inviting residents to join the Hounslow Residents Panel.
“By giving your feedback, sharing your ideas, and highlighting issues that affect your community, you will help us understand what different groups across Hounslow need and care about. This will enable us to make better informed decisions based on real community feedback and improve services across the borough.”
