Phillip Schofield Delivers Covid Safety Message to Borough

Chiswick resident makes plea to follow rules as cases in Hounslow surge

Chiswick resident Phillip Schofield has issued a plea to residents of Hounslow Borough to take care as the infection rate in the area sees a sharp increase.

Up to the 22 October the infection rate in the local authority area has risen to 180 per 100,000 population, the fourth highest for any borough in London. Neighbouring Ealing is the worst affected in the capital with a rate of 215 followed by Hammersmith & Fulham.

There have now been over 3,000 cases in Hounslow with 532 positive tests up to the 27 October. Six people have died in the last seven days in the borough with 2 reported deaths in the latest daily figures.

The TV presenter filmed his message on Station Parade in Grove Park in front of the Little Bird restaurant.

He said, “Please remember all the Covid rules. Cases in the community are increasing sadly so keep an eye on the council’s web site and remember keep your distance and wash your hands and wear your mask.”

 

Kelly O'Neill, Director of Public Health in Hounslow said, "COVID-19 positive cases numbers continue to rise in Hounslow, and now stand at around 180 per 100,000 population. It is clearer by the day that we must all step up our efforts to follow the rules and to control the virus.

"It is a particular worry that we are seeing the numbers rising among our more vulnerable, especially the elderly. This half term it is critical that we all stick to the rules. Let's not risk the lives of our loved ones."
