Urgent Repairs Being Carried Out At New Hounslow Council Headquarters

Urgent maintenance works are being carried out at the multi million pound Hounslow House council headquarters at Bath Road today, after a window reveal became dislodged (Wednesday, 21st August).

The headquarters, which have an iconic steel exterior, were opened by the Mayor of London last April.

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said:

“Hounslow Council can confirm it is carrying out urgent maintenance work on Hounslow House today, following the dislodging of a window reveal early this morning. The maintenance involves erecting scaffolding and placing a protective cover on the front and back of the building and to close the sides.

"Hounslow Highways are directing staff, visitors and members of the public away from the main front façade of the building. We would ask everyone entering and leaving the building to adhere to the barriers which are now in place and follow the instructions of the Highways Team”.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, officially opened Hounslow House last April, following the release of the old Civic Centre site for housing.

The new council HQ has improved green credentials, with an improved energy rating, and solar panels. It has an iconic exterior of shiny steel panels and is in the heart of the town centre.

Hounslow Library is also located in the new building at Bath Road in addition to adult education classrooms, the NHS (Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group) and the Metropolitan Police.

A Civic Suite on the sixth floor contains the modern Council Chamber, which is also used as community or event space.

The £410 million (GDV) development project for the new and former civic centre in Lampton Road which now contains 160 houses (with another 750 to follow) was the result of collaboration between Linkcity and Bouygues UK and wider partners including Hounslow Council, the GLA and Notting Hill Housing Group.

Following a three-way development agreement, Notting Hill Housing is developing the residential element of the scheme on Lampton Road, and Linkcity developed the civic building, built on the new site in Bath Road.
