Festive Parking Boost in the Borough

Charges suspended on various dates between Christmas and New Year

As the last-minute dash is made for those Christmas gifts, there is a chance to shop local and support the borough’s small businesses and town centres, according to Hounslow Council

Residents and shoppers have been given a festive boost as parking charges will be suspended in some areas of the borough between Christmas and the New Year

There is free parking, with no charges, in council controlled paid-for parking spaces on-street and in car parks on Christmas Eve, Saturday 24 December 2016.

On Monday 26 December, Tuesday 27 December 2016 and Monday 2 January 2017, Bank Holiday restrictions will apply in council controlled car parks and on-street parking.

Normal charges will apply on the following dates: Wednesday 28 December, Thursday 29 December, Friday 30th December and Saturday 31 December 2016.

As the last-minute dash is made for those Christmas gifts, there is a chance to shop local and support the borough’s small businesses and town centres.

Councillor Amrit Mann, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “This is just a small gesture from us so that residents and shoppers can get those last minute presents on Christmas Eve that they need and also be able to get to relatives and friends over Christmas and New Year.

“We hope that lifting normal restrictions during this time will make things a little easier for everyone trying to get around the borough and give another welcome boost to our local businesses.”

Motorists should note that other parking restrictions such as double yellow lines will still be in place and will be enforced during this time.
