Care Home Seeking Wartime And Fifties Memorabilia
To help reminiscence sessions for people living with dementia
A Care Home with about forty residents is seeking memorabilia from the 1940s and 1950s to help residents, many of who are living with dementia.
Clifton Gardens Care Home staff are looking for contributions of items such as old washboards, cups, Bovril tins, soap tins, wartime posters, ration books, nostalgic postcards, fashion dresses or uniforms.
A spokesperson said they would welcome anything that reminds people of wartime, 1940’s and the 1950’s era.
Michelle Tomlinson works with clients living with the experience of dementia.
She said: "As part of meaningful activities we have regular reminiscence sessions and wall displays throughout the care home.
"Our wall displays are looking rather tired and some of the items have gone missing over the years.
"I am looking to update the walls with wartime, 1940's & 1950’s memorabilia posters, packages, household items, postcards, fashion items, ration books and such like.
"I am sending out a plea for any donations to help with this little project. I would be able to collect any items locally."
