The search is on for those who make the borough safer
A window cleaner who saved an elderly woman from a fire and a neighbourhood watch coordinator who helped police close a local crack-house are two examples of community heroes in the borough. And this year's nominations for the Hounslow Community Safety Heroes awards are now open.
The awards recognise individuals who have made the borough better through their heroic efforts.
Nominees may have taken a stand against crime or anti-social behaviour or made the community a safer place to live; whatever the good deed, Hounslow Council wants to hear about it.
Nominations are open to groups or individuals, residents or businesses – as long as the nomination clearly demonstrates how the person/people have contributed to making Hounslow safer. Nominations should relate to members of the community, not those employed in a community safety role.
Categories include:
- Neighbourhood Watch
- individuals
- residents
- volunteers
- businesses against crime
- outstanding hero.
Councillor Richard Foote, cabinet member for community protection, said: “These awards are a chance recognise the borough’s many unsung heroes who have, in their own way, contributed to making the place we call home a better place to live, work and visit.
“I’d urge everyone to consider who they think deserves to have their efforts acknowledged on a very public platform in this way. There’s no better way to say thank you for the work they have done.”
