Hounslow Council says it has beaten the London average
More than 9 out of 10 Hounslow children starting secondary school in September have been offered a place at one of their top three choices of school, the Council said.
"With 92 per cent of applicants getting one of their top three preferences, the borough has once again beaten the London average (90 per cent)".
Parents will today (Tuesday, 4 March) receive letters confirming the allocation of a secondary school place for their children, and those who applied online received the information yesterday.
The Council figures across the borough show that :
· 73 per cent of pupils received their first preference (69 per cent across London)
· 92 per cent of pupils received one of their top 3 preferences (90 per cent across London
· 96 per cent of pupils received one of their preferences (95 per cent across London)
· 100 per cent of pupils received an offer for applications submitted by the closing date.
Cllr Tom Bruce, Hounslow’s cabinet member for education and HR, said:
“Our secondary schools are well known for providing high quality education for local children, so demand for places is always high.
“Yet again we’re above the London average for the number of parents getting one of their top preferences, and it’s great to see everyone who applied on time has been offered a place.
“By working closely with our schools, and supporting families through the secondary transfer process, we are making sure parents can be confident their child will get enjoy a successful secondary school experience.”
